I became first aware of Halima’s work when she was selected for The Discerning Eye exhibition in 2004, where I was very pleased to purchase Kirigami and Shiraz for Jerwood Collection.  We later acquired Concentric Flower and a wall piece titled Fan from the Art and Islam exhibition held at Birmingham Museum in 2007.

Her work has a timeless quality with a wide personal form and reach, and demonstrates incredible dedication and energy. No artist can be unique, but Halima gets very close to being exceptionally different with her distinctive vision and exceptional carving skills. This beautifully illustrated book provides a fascinating and essential in-depth study of development of Halima’s artistic acclaim and practice over the last 25 years.
