National Museums Scotland

It really is an extensive deep dive into your practice, and I thoroughly enjoyed the contributing essays, especially the personal note from your former school teacher, which was truly special. But what I loved the most was how richly the publication was illustrated with photographs charting your journey, they really allowed the reader to capture a glimpse of your passion and how making has come to define who you are. From the shots of you at home in your wee flat, to the places you have inhabited over the years, you have adapted to each of these environments and made them work for you, not allowing them to inhibit your ambitions, creating truly remarkable works that belay the challenges you first encountered. I still remember meeting you in 2001, or was it 2002, I’m not sure which year now as it was so long ago lol, but when I was studying for my BA at UCLAN, and being quite intimidated and aww inspired by your work. Your sculptures are both personal and inclusive; recognisable and yet otherworldly; they sing of the beauty of material exploration, a reverence to the natural environment, alongside a deep appreciation of mathematics. So it is so wonderful to see a catalogue of all aspects of your oeuvre brought together for all to appreciate within the publication.
