Halima Cassell 25 is a catalogue raisonné that documents Cassell’s unique creative talent and how it has been enabled, developed and honed over 25 years. This beautiful publication is clearly collaborative in the way that the artist has choreographed the illustrations to complement the essay contributions by others. Cassell is an artist who has repeatedly challenged herself with new materials and techniques and has seized the opportunities of her well-deserved awards and residencies, which have included visits to Japan and Pakistan, to expand her creative horizons. Halima Cassell 25 provides a survey of the artist’s varied influences and inspirations and records the pleasure and passion she brings to the manual manipulation of her materials. The artist’s abiding fascination with the power of pattern is well illustrated, especially in the beautifully designed gate-folds in the front and back of the book, which provide a visually stunning sample of her brilliant oeuvre.
